Decorating Blues?

I know some of you out there haven’t even started decorating for the Holidays. So what! Perhaps you don’t even want to decorate but you feel you should? I get it, I’ve been there before. Some years I just don’t feel like dragging down all of those boxes from the attic and putting up the same ‘ol ornaments. And personally, for me it’s that I’m not an overly decorative kind of designer. I know how shocking is that? I truly love simplicity and that can be such a beautiful thing… for me anyway. But let’s say you don’t want to decorate but you are having festivities at your house and you don’t want it to look like The Grinch came and stole all your decorations. Below are some quick, easy ideas. And remember, the point is, even if you aren’t completely ready or in the mood for the holidays, doing just one or two of these ideas I hope will make you will feel better and a little lighter this Holiday season.

Instead of decorating a tree bring in sprigs of pine, holly, cedar boughs, or magnolia branches and place on the mantle, coffee table, or stair railings. Then set some candles on top in a group of 3, 5 or 7 is ideal. You can even buy the candles with the fake flicker. When lit they have that same comforting feel!

Purchase a wreath for your front door. For something different try one decorated with succulents or air plants which are very hot this season. They will last forever and still look pretty in the Spring and into summer!
